Early Monday morning while Rick was driving to the gym, the icy road got the best of him. He was rounding a bend by the elementary school when the car started sliding and he hit into a pole. Yes, he is fine. The car, unfortunately did not survive the crash. I told Rick that he couldn't have done a worse job of crashing if he was trying. He hit the driver's side right between the doors where the frame is. So instead of replacing a door or panel, there are two doors, a bottom panel, and a bent frame. We paid off this car during Law School at which time we dropped insurance coverage to liability in order to save some money every month. So, needless to say the car is a total loss. I tried to convince Rick to put a little plastic on the broken out windows and keep driving it until we could afford to buy a new one (because beside the major body damage, the car runs fine!). He wasn't so keen on the idea.

Oh I think it could have been a lot worse. I'm sure you are just happy that Rick is safe. Tell Rick that a plexi-glass windows window is a snap. I will show him how. If he is looking for something to drive, I can see a little white truck behind the explorer. Or he may be able to find some other cars nearby.
Hey I think Rick gave you a hard time when you were pulling out of the garage and there was a little scratch on your car. You need to give him a hard time, that is a little more than a scratch. I am glad he is safe and it was not worse but next time I see him I am definatly going to remind him of the post he did about your little incedent. I think he said you were grounded from the computer. I think Rick needs a grounding.
Niiiiiiiiiice. . .
Ahhh--too many crappy things happening at once! I know you have tendency to get a little frustrated when things seem to be going wrong, but try to keep a postitive and cheery attitude and think of what could've happened....
I'm happy Rick is safe and sound, and you are too after your little incident. I'm positive it was not just gas! We will keep our eyes out for an inexpensive car....
Oops!
That is SO LAME, Olivia!! I'm sorry!
With that said, what a blessing that Rick wasn't hurt, nobody else was involved and it wasn't your Tahoe! It could always be worse.
I miss having you to hang out with and talk to during the day. I walked past your house yesterday and someone else has moved in. It irritated me. It's just not the same with you guys gone.
I hope you find a good replacement car soon. Tell your boys "hi" from our family!
Actually, I wished it was our Tahoe because then we could just pay the deductible and the insurance would pay the remaining cost to have it fixed. And hey, they might've fixed that small scratch someone put in it!
Not actually your best week BUT the good news is that everyone is fine and that you still have me one minute away. I wondered the other day after I was recanting the story of Tuesday how I made it down the rode without wrapping the Durango around a pole or two while I was talking on my phone to the ER and on hold with your doctors office on your cell phone and still driving?!? Good thing there was no ice on the road!
We have a way of being prepared for .......what? I'm not ever quite sure, but sometimes it scares me to wonder. Just chalk it up to being groomed for being able to handle whatever situation comes along and thank heaven that Rick was not hurt!
I am so sorry to hear about the accident. I am glad Rick is OK. I think I would suggest the same thing to Geoff. Maybe one day money won't be a worry anymore.
I am glad to hear that Rick wasn't seriously injured. I too have been the victim of icy roads. We always seem to suffer from car problems ourselves, mostly Duane. He is on his third car since moving here and we've only been here two years! I'm hoping this one lasts us until the end. Best of luck on your car search!
Oh that is so sad. The driving ability may run in the family. Spencer almost got us in a reck on ice when we were first married. Your life really does flash before you in those life threatening situations. I hope that your car troubles work out.
