Happy Birthday Luke

What a special day we had celebrating Luke's 6th birthday! During the break in conference sessions we had a birthday lunch and opened all of his presents. The Butikofer girls wanted to do "heavy, heavy hang over" and so everyone ended up doing it with their presents. Luke is so analytical that he has a hard time coming up with wishes for people. After thinking quite some time about what to wish for Ellie Jo we suggested $1000. He just kind of looked at us like, why would I wish Ellie had $1000. Other wishes included a wish for Tess to get bigger for Kindergarten, Noah would be not so naughty, and my mom and dad that their dogs would stay home during the day.

For his birthday Luke got a Book of Mormon, kite, Lightning McQueen car, piano book, soccer shoes and shin guards, a soccer outfit and socks, books, and a telescope. He wanted to set the telescope up immediately but we told him we would have to wait until night. He is incredibly disappointed that it is so cloudy today because we will probably not be able to see any stars tonight.

I know that all parents see their children through rose colored glasses, and I am no different. That being said, I must say that Luke is a parent's dream come true. He didn't start out that way, in fact I thought I might lose my mind the first couple of months with Luke because he was so fussy and was such a terrible sleeper. He was a difficult little infant, but since then he has become a wonderful little boy. Luke is smart, thoughtful, obedient, talented, sensitive, loving, and has a real desire to do what is right. I am so proud to be his mom.

I will always remember that conference weekend 6 years ago when I had my first little boy. I loved him so much that day and I love him even more this day he turns 6 years old.

Happy birthday to Luke! I am so happy that Luke lives in Utah so I can celebrate his birthday with him! What a fun, special day we had celebrating! Luke is everything his mother says -- that's not rose colored! Luke - Grandpa and I love you so much and we are so proud of the wonderful young man you are! Happy, happy birthday!

You are such a great mom and I totally loved the invites. Luke just loves to be near the girls and I love how Mia always lets us know that he is HER best friend. I know your week started out on the frustrating side but when you look at that sweet boy I think your boy ended it on quite a positive note.

Olivia, I am not a parent or relative of Luke's and I think he is all of those things too-he always was wonderful to have around and I only wish we had him over more often! :) No wonder you are having another boy (I totally wish you a girl next time, but I have to say...), YOU are one AMAZING mom...I hope I'm more like you when I grow up! ;)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LUKE!

Happy Birthday Lukie Boy! We are sad we were not able to be there to celebrate with you guys. Luke is an amazing little guy, and I love the little boy he is growing up to be! I love being his Aunt, and I'm happy he's such a good example for my kids to look up to. We love you, Luke!

I didn't realize our boys' birthdays were so close together. Ryan turned 7 on the 2nd. If only he were as obedient as your Luke sounds. Ryan is a great kid, but does enjoy trying my patience. It must be the Lord's way of telling me I need more of that "p" word. Happy belated birthday to Luke!

Olivia...
What a cute kid! You are so lucky to have him...but he is pretty darn lucky to have you too.
Glad he had such a great birthday party. Ryan is turning 6 in May...we should let them play sometime together this summer. The telescope sounds like a GREAT idea for a birthday gift!

Happy birthday Luke! We still miss you in Tulsa, and hope you'll come see us sometime -- maybe that can be your 7th birthday present! Your cousin Drew turned 19 on your birthday. Do you remember Drew? He thinks you're the coolest kid ever. (Me too...)

I am so happy to hear Luke had a good birthday. After Kaden talked to him on the phone he asked me when he could see Luke again. It's too bad we live so far away. I loved Luke's wish for Noah. Luke is so much like Kaden. They have similar personalities. Kaden has been wanting a telescope for a long time. I hope Luke got our card. I kept waiting to mail it until I could get some money to put in it.

I have to thank you for your comment. That was so nice! I remember when Kaden was young and Geoff told me about all of the things you were teaching Luke. You inspired me to be a better mother, so thank you! :)

I liked the picture, but this new design is fun too-it's totally you. It was fun to see you the other day, I am only sorry we had to go so soon. My house was literally a disaster thanks in part to a husband that didn't clean like he said he would...anyways I hope we get to see you again soon!
